A short history of The East Sydney Hotel

The licencees from 1924

1924 - Victor Albeno Brezzo
Mr Brezzo was the licensee for 37 years. He had a good relationship with Tooths and in 1949 is described as a man who "suits the class of business admirably". In 1925 he applied to build a garage which may not have been constructed. There was no garage in 1951 and in 1945 double gates were erected so a car could be kept in the backyard.

1955 - W.A Wright
Mr Wright became licensee in 1955 and brought with him a "big following from Garden Island". This following seems not to have continued when his brother-in-law, Mr Rose took over the license.

1957 - J.H Rose
1959 - E.J O'Malley
1960 - H.B Woodward
1965 - P.M Gaskin
1969 - D.M Wilson
1972 - B.A Kelly

1978 - present. Harald Muller
